Outfit Highlight: The Informal Tuxedo

I wish I could tell you that I’m getting all dressed up to go to a fancy New Year’s Eve party on Tuesday…but I can’t ‘cuz I’m not. But I was playing dress up and trying on a few of my newly acquired items and came up with this version of an informal tuxedo. I was shopping for a crisp white shirt to go with some of my structured blazers and found this sleeveless tuxedo top at BCBG. I love this updated and modern take on the classic tuxedo shirt. The back is sheer and also super long, too long for my liking so I shortened it a bit. I thought the outfit needed a pop of color so I added a red clutch and red lips (something new for me). I am hosting a get together at my place on New Year’s Eve. So I guess since it’s my party, I can dress up if I want to…nah, I think I’ll opt for something more casual.

Today’s natural high: Having my 4-year-old daughter say to me, “Do you know what I call you sometimes?…Awesome!”

  1. I love this shirt – I find there’s nothing like a well-made, crisp white shirt, but they’re actually quite hard to find. The red bag is the perfect pop of colour as well.

  2. So glad to have you joining the Holiday Style Linkup! You look fabulous and I love the details of the red lip and red clutch. I definitely don’t think you should shy away from red lips in the future- it’s a very flattering and glamorous look on you. 🙂

  3. I love everything about this! I’m honestly not into the hi-low hems for tops, but you are totally selling this to me! It’s perfect with the blazer and the red lips and clutch were definitely wise choices! You should definitely do red lips more, it’s amazing how easily it brightens your look! Thanks for sharing this with the Holiday Style Linkup!
