Outfit Highlight: What to Wear to a Picnic

Before anything, I just want to say, for you bloggers out there who publish a post every single day or even almost every day, major kudos to you. I don’t know how you do it! Publishing even my two, sometimes three, posts a week feels like a major production. Maybe I just need to plan ahead and be more organized. Any tips? I’m all ears.

Now back to my scheduled post. Yes, it’s picnic season. Our first family picnic this season was a few weeks ago when we had visiting relatives, and on the way home my 4-year-old said, “Can we have picnics every day?!” That statement along with the fact that we bought an annual pass to the state parks means that we’ll be going on picnics pretty regularly this summer. When it comes to picnic attire, I go for comfort, simplicity and mobility, with a sprinkling of style. The key words are easy breezy and my go-to items are typically tee and shorts, a flowy maxi dress, a cotton dress, denim, flip flops, slip-ons and of course, shades and lots of sunscreen.

  1. First, I know what you mean! I was thinking last night that I don’t know how mommy bloggers do it! It’s just me and my husband and my beagle and with blogging I don’t feel like I have much time for anything else! So don’t discredit yourself for “only” posting 2-3 times a week!
Second- this is great inspiration. Both are appropriate for the settings and I would wear each in their entirety!

  2. I try to publish three outfit posts per week, and I agree…that is a struggle! I was just having this same conversation with my husband. It’s also hard to find enough time to visit all the blogs I want to see. Love both looks. A maxi is always so nice in the summer simply for comfort. I also love stripes, so your shirt/shorts combo is great!

  3. I post 3 times a week and it is hard to stay on top of it. I’ve realized I can’t beat myself up if my post doesn’t get up. I’m also all ears on tips! Both looks are great, but I love the maxi dress! It is so pretty!

  4. The striped tee with the mint and coral shorts is super cute! I love your picks for the different occasions and my favorite is Under the Stars! As for blogging, I can barely do 2 posts a week and would love to hear other’s tips on staying organized!

  5. I love both of these outfits, the first one with shorts is totally my go-to style for this summer and the ops of mint are so fun!

  6. I loved reading the comments on this post. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who always feels behind with blogging and is amazed at anyone who can find the time to do it more than I do (3x/week). Doing my own content plus reading my friends and favorites etc. just expands to fit whatever time you give it! I just try to accept leaving well enough alone sometimes, hoping that readers will come back if it wasn’t my best day and hoping that my friends in the community will be understanding if I didn’t make it back to comment on their post that day/week. Wow, I got way sidetracked from your picnic outfits, but I love each of those too and the other styling options you showed as well!

  8. 2 gorgeous outfits Cynthia. My favorite is the one with the shorts. I do love that maxi dress though.

    Enjoy the weekend. Ada. =)

  9. These outfits are both great. I already pinned them both. The pops of color on the maxi are perfect and who doesn’t love a navy and coral combination! Thanks for sharing!
