I’m currently on a mission to find the perfect plaid shirt(s). I’ve always liked plaid but I’m very particular about the color pattern. There is always that right mix of colors that catches my eye. I used to wear plaid shirts more often back in my college years since plaid shirts are typically associated with a more casual laid back look. These days, however, plaid is offered in so many different ways. It’s been updated and reinvented in unusual patterns and fabrics, and can be incorporated into virtually any look. It can relax a formal look, add a bit of preppiness to an edgy look or just add some pattern fun to a neutral look.
I’ve picked out a few plaid shirts that I’ve been eyeing recently. The frontrunner so far is the Madewell Cherry Plaid shirt but the price, for now, is making me look for other options. What do you think? Which one is your favorite?
Here’s a few ways you can style your plaid shirt:
Plaid with Blazer and Jeans: Madewell plaid shirt | J.Crew blazer | J.Crew jeans | Vans slip-ons
Plaid with a Skirt: Madewell plaid shirt | Topshop skirt | Sole Society bootie
Plaid with a dress: Madewell plaid shirt | Madewell dress | Jessica Simpson booties

Finding the write print and fit is hard for me, I’ll love a print then it will be too tight or too lose and sticking sizes won’t always work either. Good luck!
Right, oops.
Yessss, LOVE plaid and love how you styled these looks! I need to stock up on new plaid shirts this season, for sure. 🙂

I purchased a couple of plaid shirts from F21 late last winter, hoping they’d still be in style this fall and they are. I would really love to find a thin fur (faux) vest to pair a plaid shirt with. I also recently purchased a plaid scarf that was on sale at Nordstrom. I can’t wait to see your fancier plaid looks this fall with it worn over a dress and a skirt!! Love!
Plaid is my favorite this fall. Love all of these styling options, especially paired with the white dress! Voted for you! Good luck!

Plaid has definitely grown on me over the years. I really love #8, but i’m sure you will find the perfect one.
I am also on the plaid flannel shirt hunt! I want a burgundy and black plaid. Let me know if you happen to see one! 😉

Am so pleased that tartan as we brits say is still big for Autumn. I have a green tartan shirt so this year I think I’ll opt for a red one.
I’m craving plaid, too! Just hoping the weather cools down soon 🙂 Thanks for linking up with us at Three-fer Thursdays!

Hi Cynthia I love plaid shirts as well. I have two that I thrifted last year. One is longer and more like a tunic, and its in this great sunshine yellow with grey. I usually wear it over a pair of grey leggings. I really want to get one in red and black or black and blue. Only because they remind me of my dad when I was little. He would always wear them to work. They are great because they can be dressed up or down. ~Sherri
Im digging the large check this winter!
