Can you say “Falling for Faux Fur in Fall” 10 times quickly? Bet you can’t! Can you say faux fur fan? I sure can because I’ve been a huge fan of faux fur for a while now. I’ve been eyeing several faux fur coats and vests but the ones that I’ve liked in the past have been out of my price range. I remember a couple of years ago, I had found one at Saks while shopping with a friend. It was the end of the season so it was marked down to 60% off the original price but even then it was still not within the price range I was comfortable with. I showed it to my husband and he said I was crazy for wanting to buy it. Speaking of which, do your husbands, or significant others, have a say in your wardrobe? How much influence do they have?

I do ask my husband for his opinion on my clothes every once in a while but, for the most part, his input doesn’t seem to have much influence in my final decision, unless it’s a matter of something being too short or revealing. In those cases, I do give his input some consideration, but otherwise I stick to my guns. For example, I bought this Vince sweater jacket on sale last year and he said I should return it because it made me look fat. I know, he really said that. I didn’t listen to him and I have to say it was one of the best purchases I’ve ever made. I wear that thing almost every day. It’s so warm and cozy I don’t want to take it off! Sometimes you just have to trust your instincts.

But I digress, I found this faux fur vest at Nordstrom Rack on my way out. I went straight back to the cashier and bought it without even trying it on. I tried it on when I got home and it fit perfectly. I love the fact that the back is knitted like a sweater, which makes it easier to layer. Oh yeah, this was another item my husband disapproved of but I have a feeling it will be getting a lot of wear this fall.

  9. First things first, I do love your outfit! Love the blush tones with the black pants and cap toe pumps! Your style is always so classic and sophisticated and you manage to make it look effortless. Second, I love your question about if your spouse has a say in your wardrobe! Mine doesn’t say much but I would say I give him veto power. If something looks really terrible, I expect him to tell me and then I’d probably not wear it. I don’t expect him to “get” every thing I wear, but it’s a good indicator of general perception vs. how the fashion community sees something.

  14. Cynthia I love this look! You are just so chic. The white vest is such a fun twist since most are brown. Perfection! My hubby has say in my wardrobe, but like you if he doesn’t like said item it doesn’t always mean I won’t buy/wear it.

  16. Lovely outfit! I love wearing faux fur! My significant other has a good say on my purchases. If it’s a pricy one, then he tries to rationalize with me that I’m being irrational (if that makes sense) but if it’s on a budget end then he really doesn’t care!

  18. How funny! I ask my huband’s opinion as well and I wind up buying it or keeping it anyway! He’s really only good at telling me if it is age/event appropriate when I need a second opinion! This look is great and I LOVE that vest! Super score! I am sure you will get tons of use out of it and I like that it is knit on the back, gives it a less bulky look! Great post!

  25. aaaahhh you busted out the fur! I wish I could too but it isn’t quite as cold here yet! this looks adorable, Cynthia! this one is an awesome impulse buy, which is rare. I love that you styled it with a similar colored top, for some reason, it evokes that feeling of cozy when I first laid eyes on you picture. 🙂 don’t worry, my husband will such things too about some of my fashion choices! I used to get offended but now, I may or may not listen to his opinion. 🙂

  26. Such a fabulous and fun look, Cynthia! I have been on the hunt for a faux fur vest and just haven’t seen what I am looking for yet. My husband very rarely has a say in anything I purchase except when I specifically ask his opinion. Even then I usually stick with my gut instinct.

I really love this one, I always think of buying one with brown fur, but this white fur is beautiful and will go together with a lot of tops! Oh, and… I usually don’t ask my husband for his opinion until after I purchase something. HA. 🙂

Love this look! … Yeahhhh, I had an ex-husband who disapproved of me being in anything past “comfy clothes” even when it was a special occasion, because he was a jealous person and didn’t want anyone else looking at me. Bravo to you for wearing something even tho your dh doesn’t care for it!!!
