Tour Through Blogland

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a good weekend! Mine was busy as usual. Are weekends ever not busy? Between running endless errands, kickboxing, church activities, birthday parties and of course a little shopping, there isn’t much time for just chillaxing. One of the highlights of my weekend was meeting up with Ashley from Fancy Stuff & Pretty Things. We live like 5 minutes from each other but didn’t get a chance to meet in person until now. We definitely didn’t have a shortage of things to talk about, from our kids to traveling, food and of course, blogging. We were talking so much I didn’t even remember to take a selfie. I’m so bad at that. Maybe next time, and oh yeah, there will be a next time, soon.

Last week, I was honored to be nominated by Rhea from Rhea Et Cetera as one of her favorite fashionistas on Instagram. It was extra special to be nominated by Rhea because I adore her and her style. I love her collection of pretty skirts and how she is able to style them in so many different ways. I love that she always throws in an item, whether it’s a piece of clothing, a fun accessory, or a pair of shoes that make her whole look so uniquely hers.

So now it’s my turn to nominate three of my favorite fashionistas on Instagram or Blogland in general and answer the following questions:

What am I working on?

To be completely honest, between mommy duties, church life, blogging and other personal pursuits, I’m just trying to keep my head above water. I really need to work on my time management! To those of you full-time working moms out there who blog on a regular basis, hats off to you, I don’t know how you do it! Please share your secret!

How does my work differ from others in its genre?

I can’t really say that it does. One of the reasons I started blogging is because I wanted to connect with people who shared my interests. I think we all share the same passion for fashion, food, fitness, or whatever else your blog may be about, and I think we all needed a creative outlet. At the same, I think we each bring our own unique flavor to the table, our own sense of style, our own take on outfits, our own experiences, etc. And that’s why I love the blogging world.

Why do I write/create what I do?

Writing has always been a passion of mine and fashion has developed into one of my passions so when I had the opportunity to combine the two into a blog, I thought it was the perfect platform to pursue, express and share my two passions along with other interests.

How does my writing/creative process work?

Most of the time, I just have to sit down and start writing, even if it means I have to rewrite the whole thing a couple of times. Other times, I just mull things over in my head and think about from which angle I want to approach the story, whether I want to focus on a single piece of clothing, or a story behind the outfit, or share practical how to’s. In terms of outfits, there are always a few pieces every season that I have my eyes on and I always try to see if those pieces integrate well with my existing wardrobe. In the process of mixing and matching I always end up coming up with 2-3 other outfit ideas.

So here are three fabulous fashionistas whose blogs I love and whose Instagram feed keep me coming back for more:

Mahshid of Thanks to Fashion
Hey there! I’m Mahshid from Thanks To Fashion. My love for fashion and my curiosity for trends in other cultures and countries led me to launch my blog. I was born in Tehran (Iran) and moved to Europe when I was a teenager. I graduated with a master degree from the Technical University of Vienna and now work in IT. As a personal trainer, I am also a big advocate of a healthy lifestyle. So on Thanks To Fashion, you will find not only my take on current fashion trends and street style photography from many of my travels, but also healthy recipes and DIY projects. I’d like to see T2F as an inspirational platform for giving and taking.

Thanks To Fashion
I’ve been in love with Mahshid’s style ever since we connected thru our blogs a little while back. She has an understated, minimalist, sophisticated style that I’m very much drawn to. She always has beautiful photos of not only her outfits but her travels as well. Did I mention she has a YouTube channel? Yes, this lady does it all. And we both share a love for kickboxing! Make sure to follow her on Instagram and visit her blog. You will NOT be disappointed!

Jeannette of Ms. Jeannie and Her Closet
Hello my name is Jeannette and I am from Orlando, FL. I work as a system engineer but fashion is my passion ever since I was little girl. It wasn’t until later in my life that I decided to step out of my comfort zone and pursue what I love which is writing about my life, my very own self growth and of course fashion. This is when Ms. Jeannie and Her Closet was created. When I am not working as an engineer you can find me at home spending quality time with my better half, my youngest daughter (my oldest one is away attending college), my four adopted dogs, picking outfits for my next post and blogging. I believe we are meant to pursue what we love and my main goal now is to live a life with no regrets.

Mrs. Jeannie and Her Closet
I found Jeannette’s blog fairly recently and I’ve been impressed with her sense of style since. She can go from feminine to edgy,  from casual to boho chic, and make them all look effortless. I also love that she always has inspirational words to share in her blog posts. This mom of teenage girls (I know, I couldn’t believe it either.) is one fashion savvy lady. Make sure to stop by her blog and follow her on Instagram.

Kimberly of Mascara Melodies
HI! I’m Kimberly, blogger at Mascara Melodies. I blog about fashion and music. I’ve had a love for both for as long as I can remember. I quickly became obsessed with reading other blogs and knew I had to create one of my own. I have a very laid back casual style and I like to be a little edgy most of the time. I incorporate my love for music by making all my blog titles music lyrics. I am a Registered Nurse and I am currently traveling to different areas of the U.S. to work. This has definitely made blogging a challenge and I am very lucky to have a wonderful photographer who has helped me keep up with my blog.

Mascara Melodies

I absolutely love the cool and edgy vibe of Kimberly’s outfits. She can pull off the casual effortless look like nobody else but always manages to look polished at the same time. I’m in love with the look and feel of her blog and her top notch photography. I really appreciate the fact that she uses song lyrics as blog post titles. And I just learned that she’s a traveling nurse…now how awesome is that! You’d be missing out if you don’t stop by her blog and follow her on Instagram.

  2. Hello wonderful Cynthia! I don’t have enough words to describe how honored I feel to be nominated by you as one of your favorites fashionistas on Instagram. I haven’t been blogging for long and this nomination has reinforced my motivation and desire to continue. There is no doubt that fashion is my passion but sometimes I can’t help to feel a little overwhelmed by everything else I have going on in life and question what I do. My believe in our right to pursue our passions is what keeps me going and your nomination ia a validation from life that I am in the right path. I believe God utilizes people and situations to communicate with us and I have no doubt that he used you. God bless you and your family always and I just want you to know that admire you very much. Not only I love your style and your sense of fashion but I also love the fact that you are a wonderful mommy and an awesome wife. I enjoy your blog very much and thank you for nominating me. I am so glad you got to meet Ashley and that you both had a great time. Take care my friend. XOXO, Jeannette
