Outfit Highlight: All About Those Boots

Banana Republic sweater, Born Roxie boots, orange sweater

Happy Monday, everyone!

This past week was one of those weeks I wished we had more hours in a day and more days in a week. Between school events, planning for my youngest one’s birthday party, trying to do some Christmas shopping and working on some house maintenance, there really wasn’t much time for anything else. I really just want to hibernate. I envy the bears.

Anyway, enough about me! Today it’s all about those tan boots I mentioned I was hunting for here. I finally found the ones! The Born Roxie boots were one of my top contenders and when I saw them on sale at Nordstrom, I knew I had to get them. There were three things I was looking for in these boots: the right color shade, the right toe shape and the right shaft height. The Roxie boots met all three criteria, or at least came very close. I especially liked the tan/cognac color of the boots; it’s very natural looking. My eyes have been gravitating towards shades of orange lately. I bought this sweater from Banana Republic mainly because of the vibrant color. There is nothing better than a bright colored top to cheer you up on a cold dreary day.

  1. That gorgeous red sweater certainly pops against the gray and dark denim. You look great and ready for a casual holiday event. Loving the boots and mirrored sunnies!

  2. Hello Cynthia! I can related to you on wanting to hybernate, especially during this time of the year. All want to do is stay home and watch Christmas movies on the couch. I was looking forward to see which ones you picked and I must say you got a super pretty pair. Like them very much and I am sure you will be wearing them a lot! I would!! Love the colors on your outfit and how they reflect on your sunnies. Super cute ensemble and you look super radiant and beautiful as always:-) Love everything you are wearing. xoxo,Jeannette

  3. I do the same thing! I wear bright colors on dark days. I always tell my coworkers that I dress brightly bc I’m picking up the slack of the weather haha but I do wish I could hibernate too, the idea makes me all happy inside..
Btw, are those boots leather?? I’ve been looking for a pair just like that! I literally wrote about it twice already in my blog hahah that’s how much I need a pair! I’m afraid of boots slouching over a period of time though. Do you put anything in them to keep them up?

    • Yes, the boots are leather and very good quality. I haven’t had any issues with my boots slouching over time. I don’t think you can go wrong with Born boots. I’ve heard from several other bloggers who have owned their pair for several years and I’m told they hold up pretty well.

  4. There’s just something I love about putting a bunch of solid, classic, simple, beautiful pieces together into one outfit – you can’t go wrong! Love this.

  5. Love the pair of boots you found. Turquoise and red is one of my favorite color combinations. The necklace looks great. Our last week and this week feel the same. Not enough tome!

  6. I find it so hard to find boots as my calves are so thin, most boots look like wellies on me. I do love your boots, this is the shade of brown I like. Like the shade of red too.

  7. The new boots look gorgeous! I love it when you can finally get the one item you’ve been hunting for!

Lately it seems there are never quite enough hours in the day to get it all done!

  8. First time visitor, stopping by from Trend Spin link-up and I’m sooo glad I found you! I can tell already I am going to find LOTS of style inspiration from you! I love how all of your pieces are classic pieces but come together for a perfectly styled, chic look. Sometimes the most simple pieces make the biggest impact and I usually tend to forget that. Thanks for the reminder! haha Happy to announce you have a brand new follower! I look forward to all of your future inspiration! 😉

  9. This is the time of year when I pull out a lot of my red blouses and sweaters and I really love the pop of red in this outfit. Oh, how I would love to hibernate with the bears right now.. this week and next are going to be killer.

  12. Hello, I came across your blog as I was looking into the Born Roxie boots. They look great on you. Great color. I was wondering how tall you are and where these boots hit you. I’m 5.1″ so you may be a bit taller than me. I find the boots hit just at the bottom of my knee cap (maybe at them). I’ve read reviews that these boots have a higher shaft and was just wondering how you feel about them and if they are comfortable.
