Outfit Highlight: The Cocoon Coat

Happy Monday, my friends!

Having a sick kid right before a family vacation is a little disconcerting but, thankfully, it looks like she’s on the mend and ready for our trip to Disney World. In between getting Valentine’s Day treats ready for school and packing, I had a chance to sneak out for a photo shoot and amazingly, the weather has been my best friend lately, warming up for me on the weekends.

Despite the fact that I have all the winter jackets and coats that I need, I’ve been wanting a cocoon coat for a while. Perhaps it’s the oversized slouchy fit, but there’s something about cocoon coats that exudes a cool, laid back vibe without being sloppy. And because they’re oversized, it’s great for layering. I particularly like the patterned cocoon coats like this one from Express. I had spotted this coat at Express a while back. I tried it on, really liked it but my practical self passed on it because it wasn’t on sale and as I mentioned, I have all the coats that I “need”. I figured I’d snag it when it went on major sale.

Well, as always, the coat was nowhere to be found when Express was running their final season sales after the holidays. It was sold out online and none of the local stores had it. I gave up on it and told myself it wasn’t meant to be. Well, I guess I was wrong because I was at Express returning an item one day and decided to take a quick look at the clearance rack and lo and behold, the coat was hanging there in all its glory in exactly the size I needed. I think this was divine intervention . And I got it for less than half the original price.

  1. I love some good divine intervention! It looks great. Have fun at Disney. I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty jealous. I’m about done with this weather.

  2. Hello Cynthia! The cocoon jacket you are wearing is gorgeous and I am happy that you got to buy at such a great price. It was really meant to be for you. I love the pattern, the style (of course) and the color. I don’t own too many of coats. Living in Florida doesn’t allow me to wear them often so the few I own always stay in my closet unless I travel up north. I am so excited about your upcoming vacation to Disney World. This is a great time to visit the parks. Not too many people and the weather will be perfect for you guys. Have a lot of fun and don’t hesitate to contact me if you need anything! XOXO, Jeannette

  3. Glad your daughter is feeling better for your trip to Disney World! I can’t wait to go with my girls when they are a bit older (I’ve never gone myself so I’ll probably be just as excited as them!). I love this Express cocoon coat I featured in a post because it’s so chic, wishing I got it now. Great look.

  5. It was divine intervention for sure 🙂 The coat is beautiful, and of course I like the pattern, considering I have a bomber jacket with a very similar one. Your little booties are gorgeous as well. Hope your little one is feeling better.

  6. Great pattern-play here! The coat looks great on you and I loved that it’s mixed with stripes! Will definitely need to give plaid and stripes a go and see if I can pull it off!

  7. That coat is lovely! I wanted the windowpane coat from Express this year, hunted it down after christmas, it was only half off, and somehow I couldn’t justify $100 for a coat that wasn’t even wool. Glad you managed to snag this one on super sale!
