Hope everyone had a fun Halloween. How can you not with all that candy, right? The best part is that it wasn’t freezing cold. Temperatures have been surprisingly mild this season and I hear it’s getting up to the low 70s during the week. Yay! The highs and lows that fall weather brings makes it a little tricky getting dressed. I bundle up in the morning but I find myself shedding my layers by early afternoon. Continue reading →
I’m so grateful that we’re having a real fall season this year. Temperatures are staying reasonably mild, which was not the case around this time the last couple of years. Our family had a busy weekend but it was a good busy. The five of us got to serve lunch together and get to know underprivileged families at a church in the inner city of Detroit. I’m really looking forward to doing more of these types of activities as a family.
70s-inspired looks are on full force so I was excited to re-acquaint myself with flare jeans, which we’re seeing everywhere these days. Continue reading →
We had a packed weekend, starting off with a date night to celebrate our 14th anniversary, an impromptu gathering at our place to watch the Michigan vs Michigan State game (crazy final play!) and our annual trip to the cider mill. My husband planned our date night this time and decided to take me to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for a night of Beethoven. Although I’ve always appreciated classical music, we haven’t gone out of our way to attend classical music concerts. I feel like I’ve been missing out because I thoroughly enjoyed it. After a couple of days of torrential rain, temperatures cooled down quite a bit over the weekend. I thought it was the perfect time to wear this soft and cozy short-sleeve knit top that I’ve been dying to wear. Although I have to admit I could have used a cozy jacket as well. It was that chilly! Wearing this top is akin to wearing your favorite comfy sweatshirt. This top paired with my J.Crew scuba skirt takes comfort to a whole new level.
But how do you make these two “sweats-like” items look chic and stylish instead of plain and unpolished? Continue reading →
I think the warm temperatures are finally here to stay. Yay! And for that reason, I finally got to wear my romper. So this was a tough decision, ladies. I couldn’t decide between two rompers for the longest time. When both Rachelle and Charnele mentioned this romper on their posts, I knew I had to pay Loft a visit to try it on. Tried it on. Loved it. Bought it. Then I found this Banana Republic romper and also fell in love. I must have tried each one of them more than a half a dozen times. Continue reading →
For once, I can honestly say that I’m glad it’s Monday. I can finally get some peace and quiet. This past weekend was nothing short of exhausting. It started with my middle one throwing up all over the floor at gymnastics, which fortunately turned out to be a 24-hour bug, but unfortunately we did not escape it unscathed. My poor husband caught the bug. We celebrated two birthdays over the weekend, including my oldest daughter’s, which involved chaperoning a bunch of tweens at Dave and Buster’s. Need I say more?! I didn’t think I would have an outfit post today with my husband being sick but he was nice enough to offer to take pictures anyway.
So I’m keeping this one brief. I’m featuring three of my favorite things in today’s look: stripes, black and white and pops of color. Continue reading →
Hope your week is off to a good start. I wish I could say the same about my photo shoot yesterday. Have you ever had one of those days where the elements just didn’t seem to be working with you? Well, I had such a day yesterday where everything from the wind to the sun just refused to cooperate. I don’t even know how I was able to come up with a few decent photos to share with you.
I’m back to layering, my friends. Temperatures were in the 30s and 40s this past weekend. Who’s surprised? Noboby! Needless to say, I’m not too excited about the weather but I am ecstatic about my pink coat and Rebecca Minkoff bag. These are two items that I’ve been wanting to add to my wardrobe for a while.
Besides the fact that I’m crushing on anything pink these days, I always find myself swooning over pink coats and jackets whenever I see them, but I’ve been telling myself that they’re impractical. When I saw this coat on clearance at Forever 21, I had no more excuses. The price was right, it was just the right shade of pink and light enough for chilly spring days. I just love the softness that it adds to this monochrome outfit. Continue reading →
