Outfit Highlight: The Iconic Look

chambray shirt, black and white, stripe skirt, red pumps, mint clutch, iconic look

Happy Monday, my friends!

My girls’ last day of school is tomorrow, which means no more rushed mornings, at least for a while. It also means less alone time for me, which may prove to be a challenge when it comes to blogging. I can’t wait for summer camp to start!

I consider today’s look to be the quintessential fashion blogger’s look. How many times have you seen this combination of a chambray top with a black and white striped skirt and a pop of color via the accessories? But I can totally see why it’s so popular. This ensemble just works. It has all the right ingredients for a great outfit. It’s become a classic iconic look. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: How to Wear a Skirt Set

Banana Republic skirt set, Forever 21 pink moto jacket, pastels, spring colors, spring trends, mint

Happy Monday, my friends!

We finally reached temps in the 70s a couple of days ago and I feel alive again! And of course I had to take advantage of the weather and squeeze in a photo shoot. So I’ve never been a huge fan of matching sets whether they’d be pant suits, skirt suits or a skirt set. Depending on the silhouette and style, they can look a little too matchy matchy or a bit like a uniform. I’ve been seeing a surge of skirt sets lately in all shapes and styles and I don’t know if it’s because of the variety of prints, textures or silhouettes, but I find myself paying more attention to them as I have with this Banana Republic skirt set. I love the silhouette of this skirt set and the comfort factor sealed the deal. If you’ve been following me, you know comfort is high on my priority list. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Understated Classics + Giveaway

J.Crew Regent Blazer, camel blazer, camel jacket, black camel and gold, JBrand jeanas, tall black boots, Madewell knot shine necklace, leopard clutch, understated classics, fall trends
Trends come and go and I have my share of fun with them but I always find myself going back to my first love, understated classics. A structured blazer, my favorite black jeans and a pair of boots, to me, define a classic outfit. The same goes for a color palette that includes camel, black and gold. They might not catch your attention at first glance but their timeless appeal always comes through as their understated elegance becomes apparent. Continue reading

From Country Chic to City Sleek: Painted Plaid Dress

From Country Chic to City Sleek
I had the honor of doing a guest post this past summer for Alison from Get Your Pretty On where I took an eyelet top from country chic to city sleek. It was a fun concept to work with so I thought I’d give it another whirl with this super versatile Anthropologie painted plaid dress. I have no shame when it comes to this dress. I fell in love with this dress the minute I lay my eyes on it but, as always, I could not bring myself to purchase it at full price. I stalked it as if my life depended on it. When Anthropologie had a sale, I totally pounced on it and I’m glad I did because I snagged one of the last ones left at my local store.  Continue reading

Crop Tops and eShakti

Crop Tops and eShakti
I think the last time I had anything custom tailored was over 13 years ago when I purchased my wedding dress. So when I had the opportunity to have an item custom fit for me from eShakti, I didn’t hesitate, especially since I had read such good things about them already from many other bloggers. eShakti offers both style and fit customization for women size 0 through 36. There were so many styles and options to choose from, it was hard to narrow it down to one. In the end I decided to take a risk and pick out an item that would normally not be my first choice, a midi skirt. I was a little hesitant about the style but I figured, it would at least be a perfect fit. Well, I was right. The skirt fit like a glove. The fact that the skirt had pockets was a bonus. Every year, a couple of weeks before Easter, I start obsessing about getting THE perfect Easter dress. I’m sure you can all relate but whenever I’m on a mission to find the one, I almost always fail. My acquisitions of some of … Continue reading
