I meant to post this yesterday but after a long drive back from Chicago, all I wanted to do was fall facedown on my comfy bed. We had great weather while in Chicago and I’m so glad all I had to pack were tees and shorts and not worry about the weather turning chilly.
I actually wore this outfit on our way to Chicago. To me, summer is all about casual, easy, fuss-free fashion and I think this outfit is the perfect example. There is an element of ease about the summer that I love. Continue reading →
Hope your 4th of July weekend was filled with family fun and yummy food. Mine was pretty laid back. After a busy week, all I wanted to do was take it easy and just chill with my family. I think that’s what summertime is all about.
I think that natural carefree attitude translates into summer fashion as well. When it comes to summer, I almost always opt for natural fibers like cotton, linen, canvas, straw, etc. Continue reading →
My girls’ last day of school is tomorrow, which means no more rushed mornings, at least for a while. It also means less alone time for me, which may prove to be a challenge when it comes to blogging. I can’t wait for summer camp to start!
I consider today’s look to be the quintessential fashion blogger’s look. How many times have you seen this combination of a chambray top with a black and white striped skirt and a pop of color via the accessories? But I can totally see why it’s so popular. This ensemble just works. It has all the right ingredients for a great outfit. It’s become a classic iconic look. Continue reading →
Are weekends ever not busy? Mine was busy as usual but thankfully it was mostly fun. The best part was the beautiful sunny weather we had until it was abruptly interrupted by a major thunderstorm, a dramatic finale to a beautiful weekend.
The important thing is that I got to squeeze in this photo shoot because I couldn’t wait for you to see this beautiful bag that was sent to me by Jordana Paige. As soon as I set my eyes on this Cora bag, I fell in love with the serenely understated shade of lavender. I also immediately thought of the perfect summer dress to wear with it. Continue reading →
After a couple of days of torrential rain, temperatures cooled down quite a bit over the weekend. I thought it was the perfect time to wear this soft and cozy short-sleeve knit top that I’ve been dying to wear. Although I have to admit I could have used a cozy jacket as well. It was that chilly! Wearing this top is akin to wearing your favorite comfy sweatshirt. This top paired with my J.Crew scuba skirt takes comfort to a whole new level.
But how do you make these two “sweats-like” items look chic and stylish instead of plain and unpolished? Continue reading →
It was a hot and humid weekend but I’m not complaining. I’ve been waiting for this kind of weather for too long. When it feels sticky outside, there is only one place I want to be…at the beach. When you can’t take the heat anymore, you can just take a refreshing plunge into the ocean water. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in Rio enjoying the white sand beaches of Brazil, but the beach always feels like home to me, peaceful, relaxing and carefree. Continue reading →
Happy Monday, my friends! Hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day weekend.
I have a confession to make. There’s been a rekindling of sorts in my life. I’ve fallen back in love with Banana Republic. BR used to be my favorite store back, oh I don’t know, about 10 years ago when I was working and just starting to have children. I could always find something at BR that I liked. Slowly, my enthusiasm started to fade as their selections became more and more basic. The combination of BR becoming a haven for basic workplace attire and me deciding to become a SAHM after my third child led me to part ways with BR. I have recently gone back to BR and surprisingly found myself picking up quite a few items from there. I think my last three featured outfits included BR items. I don’t know if it’s the Marissa Webb factor but I feel like the selections are more modern and updated and I’m seeing a little more flair and pizzazz in their pieces. And the prices are still reasonable, especially with all the promotions. What can I say? It’s a win win situation. Continue reading →
For once, I can honestly say that I’m glad it’s Monday. I can finally get some peace and quiet. This past weekend was nothing short of exhausting. It started with my middle one throwing up all over the floor at gymnastics, which fortunately turned out to be a 24-hour bug, but unfortunately we did not escape it unscathed. My poor husband caught the bug. We celebrated two birthdays over the weekend, including my oldest daughter’s, which involved chaperoning a bunch of tweens at Dave and Buster’s. Need I say more?! I didn’t think I would have an outfit post today with my husband being sick but he was nice enough to offer to take pictures anyway.
So I’m keeping this one brief. I’m featuring three of my favorite things in today’s look: stripes, black and white and pops of color. Continue reading →
