Outfit Highlight: How to Wear a Skirt Set

Banana Republic skirt set, Forever 21 pink moto jacket, pastels, spring colors, spring trends, mint

Happy Monday, my friends!

We finally reached temps in the 70s a couple of days ago and I feel alive again! And of course I had to take advantage of the weather and squeeze in a photo shoot. So I’ve never been a huge fan of matching sets whether they’d be pant suits, skirt suits or a skirt set. Depending on the silhouette and style, they can look a little too matchy matchy or a bit like a uniform. I’ve been seeing a surge of skirt sets lately in all shapes and styles and I don’t know if it’s because of the variety of prints, textures or silhouettes, but I find myself paying more attention to them as I have with this Banana Republic skirt set. I love the silhouette of this skirt set and the comfort factor sealed the deal. If you’ve been following me, you know comfort is high on my priority list. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Spring Casual

J.Crew geometric eyelet top, white jeans, Forever 21 rose gold loafers, Sole Society Bentley crossbody, spring colors, Kushyfoot, low cut foot covers

Hope your week is off to a good start. I wish I could say the same about my photo shoot yesterday. Have you ever had one of those days where the elements just didn’t seem to be working with you? Well, I had such a day yesterday where everything from the wind to the sun just refused to cooperate. I don’t even know how I was able to come up with a few decent photos to share with you.

I’m obsessed with these Forever 21 loafers. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Lovely in Lilac

Club Monaco Blouse, Search for Sanity midi skirt, lilac, lavender, spring colors, Easter outfit, statement necklace, cobalt blue, bow pumps
Happy Monday! Hope everyone had a good Easter.

Unlike past Easters, I was actually able to wear the outfit that I had planned to wear. I purchased this lilac circle skirt a while back at Nordstrom because I loved the way it fit. I was also intrigued by the color because I had never purchased a skirt in lilac, aka as violet, lavender, mauve, or light purple. Unfortunately, it just didn’t seem to pair well with any of the tops that I had in mind. I tried neutrals like black and white and I also tried to stay within the same hue but it just didn’t seem to work, so I just tucked it away in my closet for another day. Then I spotted the color lilac featured in different magazines and blogs and it was being paired with all sorts of different colors. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: The Art of Layering

J.Crew Regent blazer, Zara stripe tee, Gap chambray shirt, Gap Always Skinny jeans, Kate Spade crossbody, Vans slip-ons, layering
Slip-ons…oh how I’ve missed you! We finally reached temperatures in the 40s over the weekend. I kid you not, there are people going around in shorts as if we’re having beach weather. It’s not quite warm enough to be wearing shorts for me but I did not hesitate to break out my Vans slip-ons. I just couldn’t wait to wear them again.

This is the thing, we’re less than two weeks away from spring but it sure doesn’t look like spring is just around the corner in these parts. My mind, however, has already bid farewell to winter, so I’m trying to forego the heavy winter coat the minute I get the chance. But how do you stay warm in 40 degree weather without a winter coat? Say hello to layering. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Working on the Grid

J.Crew wool coat, Zara grid print skirt, Gap chambray shirt, leopard clutch, Zara booties, windowpane
I’ve been obsessed with grid prints and windowpane prints for a couple of years now. Every time I see an outfit with a grid print piece or see a post about grid/windowpane prints, I automatically zero in my attention. I’ve already featured two windowpane print tops on the blog (as shown below) but I had been wanting a grid/windowpane print bottom for a while. So when I found a grid print skirt during Zara’s end of season sale earlier this year, it seemed like a no-brainer. Of course, I had to get it. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Gold, White and Blue

Forever 21 sweater, Aritzia tunic, white jeans, J.Crew trench coat

Happy Monday, my friends!

Do you know what’s harder than coming back from a vacation? Coming back to bitter cold temperatures. Talk about a jolt back to reality! But again, the weather is playing nice and decided to warm up a bit over the weekend, and hence the outdoor photos of me seemingly enjoying the balmy weather.

I don’t know if the mounds of untouched white snow in my backyard was the source of inspiration but, for whatever reason, I was really in the mood for white jeans. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: The Cocoon Coat

Happy Monday, my friends!

Having a sick kid right before a family vacation is a little disconcerting but, thankfully, it looks like she’s on the mend and ready for our trip to Disney World. In between getting Valentine’s Day treats ready for school and packing, I had a chance to sneak out for a photo shoot and amazingly, the weather has been my best friend lately, warming up for me on the weekends.

Despite the fact that I have all the winter jackets and coats that I need, I’ve been wanting a cocoon coat for a while. Perhaps it’s the oversized slouchy fit, but there’s something about cocoon coats that exudes a cool, laid back vibe without being sloppy. And because they’re oversized, it’s great for layering. Outfit Highlight: Fur, Flare & Fitted Boots

Fur, Flare, Fitted Boots
Hope everyone had a fun Super Bowl weekend! We had consistent snow fall all day long yesterday with 8-10 inches of accumulation. Needless to say, we had a small turnout for the Super Bowl party at our house but the game more than compensated for the small number. And if you enjoy a good game, don’t forget to scroll down to the bottom of this post. I’ve got a little treat for you.

I did some shopping in my closet this past weekend and came up with this fur and flare number. I was on a mission to find fall season items that hadn’t been worn in a while, and that I could possibly transition into winter. You’ve seen this fur vest before here and the flare skirt I wore back in September here. I love pieces that I can wear for multiple seasons. Continue reading
