Well, this outfit sort of reminds me of that. <em>Say what?</em> You know, the top part of this outfit is more polished preppy while the bottom is more casual chic fun, hence business up top and party on the bottom. I can totally see myself swapping out the the J.Crew sweater and <a title="J.Crew Schoolboy Blazer" href="http://rstyle.me/~32iFy" target="_blank">Schoolboy blazer</a> with a glam sequin top and being ready for a fun girls’ night out. Are you with me? It’s okay if you’re not. Anyway, these silky <a title="Anthropologie Aubrey Pants" href="http://rstyle.me/n/s74v2bc35f" target="_blank">Aubrey pants</a> are soooo comfy and hang perfectly. It was a fun concept to work with so I thought I’d give it another whirl with this super versatile <a title="Anthropologie Painted Plaid Dress" href="http://rstyle.me/n/ptqadbc35f" target="_blank">Anthropologie painted plaid dress</a>. I have no shame when it comes to this dress. I fell in love with this dress the minute I lay my eyes on it but, as always, I could not bring myself to purchase it at full price. I stalked it as if my life depended on it. When Anthropologie had a sale, I totally pounced on it and I’m glad I did because I snagged one of the last ones left at my local store. <span id="more-4402"></span></p> <p>I can seriously style this dress at least ten different ways, and maybe I’ll feature more looks in the future, but for this post, I decided to do a casual country chic look and a more dressy city sleek look. This dress can easily transition from day to night, perhaps from a brunch date to a date night, with a few simple changes. I love the asymmetrical hem, which makes this dress unique, and the hints of blue intermixed with the painted black and white plaid.</p> <p><a As I drive around my neighborhood, I see beds of red, orange and yellow leaves adorning the driveways of almost every home creating a beautiful fall color palette. Too bad the temperatures have also been very quick to catch up to the season here in Michigan, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. I ran to the car after we took these pictures.<span id="more-4167"></span></p> <p>I’m not one to mix prints and patterns often but I see it on other bloggers and I love it. Here I’m mixing lace, stripes and eyelet but the navy running throughout the outfit keeps it cohesive and, to be honest, more in my comfort zone. I’m just taking baby steps, maybe next time I’ll try mixing prints, patterns and colors!</p> <p>Hope everyone had a great start to the week!</p> <p><a I still remember back in the day when flared jeans were all the rage and I would hear people swear that they would never wear anything else. Well, I guess never say never because I’m sure those same people have a closetful of skinny jeans now. I’ve been seeing, or at least noticing, a lot more wide-leg pants, 70s inspired looks lately. I’ve been wanting to put together a similar look for a little while so when I saw Rebecca from <em>Red Tag Chic Los Angeles</em> looking fabulous in her 70s inspired outfit <a title="Red Tag Chic" href="http://redtagchiclosangeles.com/2014/04/28/back-to-the-seventies/" target="_blank">here</a>, I knew I had to do it. I was so excited to find these summery wide-leg pants at Anthropologie. The minute I tried them on I knew I had to have them. They’re soooo comfy! I also found this super cute top with what I thought was just another random print, but when I looked closely I realized they were little monkeys! Now who could pass up this adorable blouse with little monkeys on them?! I sure couldn’t. I finished the look with platform wedge sandals and a holographic clutch from Express. It reminded of disco balls.
