No pun intended. When it’s cold outside, I almost always crave something hearty, brothy and spicy. Chili seems perfect for this kind of weather. And you’ll never find a chili recipe as quick and easy as this one. It takes all of about 30 minutes to make but it tastes like you’ve simmered it for hours. This recipe was given to me by a friend but I tweaked it and added a couple of ingredients to make it more to my liking. I always like to have my chili with a little bit of sour cream, shredded cheese and heaps of tortilla chips. There is nothing better than a hearty bowl of chili to warm you up inside in the cold winter months.</p> <p><a href="http://myrosecoloredshades.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/img_5432rev3.jpg"> <span class="pibfi_pinterest "> <img decoding="async" class="alignnone size-large wp-image-620" src="http://myrosecoloredshades.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/img_5432rev3-979x1024.jpg" alt="IMG_5432rev3" width="560" height="586" srcset="https://myrosecoloredshades.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/img_5432rev3-979x1024.jpg 979w, https://myrosecoloredshades.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/img_5432rev3-286x300.jpg 286w, https://myrosecoloredshades.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/img_5432rev3.jpg 1926w" sizes="(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px" /> <span class="xc_pin" onclick="pin_this(event, 'http://pinterest.com/pin/create/button/?url=https://myrosecoloredshades.com/2013/11/22/recipe-highlight-its-chili/&media=http://myrosecoloredshades.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/img_5432rev3-979x1024.jpg&description=Recipe Highlight: It’s Chili!')"> </span> </span> </a></p> <p><strong>Chili Recipe</strong></p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Ingredients</span></p> <p>1 lb. ground beef (Sometimes I use ½ lb. sausage and ½ lb. ground beef.)<br /> 2 cups water<br /> 1 cup frozen corn<br /> 1 cup salsa*<br /> 2 Tb chili powder<br /> 1 ½ tsp brown sugar<br /> 2 ½ tsp cumin<br /> 1 ½ tsp oregano<br /> ¼ tsp salt<br /> 16 oz. can of chili beans*<br /> 14 oz. diced tomatoes (I use fire-roasted.)<br /> 1 tsp cocoa (unsweetened)<br /> a couple of splashes of Worcestershire sauce (optional)<br /> 2 tsp juice from pickled jalapeno jar (optional)</p> <p><span style="text-decoration: underline;">Directions</span></p> <ol> <li>Brown meat slowly until cooked through.
