Outfit Highlight: Fun with Neutrals

Fun with Neutrals 1
I’m seeing a lot of neutrals this season and I’m loving it! When it comes to clothing, I’m naturally drawn to whites, grays, taupes and, of course, black. Sometimes a mix of neutrals can appear a little boring and flat but there are ways to add interest to a neutral ensemble. You can play with textures and silhouettes to create dimension and fun and the right set of accessories can always enhance an all neutral look. I got this J.Crew skirt on sale several weeks ago and I absolutely love it! It’s comfy, bouncy and super fun to wear. It holds its shape really well, which makes for an eye-catching silhouette. I paired it with this H&M sweater not only because of its perfect cut and length but also because of the added texture that came from its rib stitching. And the peep toe booties are a fall must-have.

What are your thoughts on neutrals? Are you drawn to them or are bold colors more to your liking?

P.S. I just wanted to thank all of you for the sweet comments you left on my blog anniversary post. I meant every word when I said that all of you out there, who support my blog, are the reason I keep going!

  1. I love it every time you wear whites and grays. They are your color. Loving this soft, neutrals look. Gorgeous sweatshirt skirt and those booties!! Always a pleasure being here, Cynthia!

  2. That skirt is so much fun! I am also a big fan of neutrals. Mostly black and greys are to my liking. But I also LOVE prints and colors, but I like to incorporate them with accessories. Keeping my wardrobe mostly neutrals makes it so much easier to put outfits together!

  3. Besides the crisp neutral colors, the textures are nice. Just curious about where you are in the photos. The location looks very familiar.

  4. I love a good neutrals outfit. I tend to grab for color, but this outfit makes me want to pull together a neutral outfit from my closet. Lovely!

  5. Loving this neutral look! That skirt is adorable and I’m dying over those shoes! Too pretty!

  7. I love a great neutral look and this one is lovely! Like you said, it’s all in the little details which add such great visual interest. And those booties – oh, my!

  8. I wear bright colors all spring and summer, but I bring out my large collection of white, gray, and black come fall. Living in France for two years taught me to embrace neutrals (and repeating fabulous outfits). I LOVE your ensemble, especially the skirt. And did you take a small jump in that last photo? Major kudos to your photographer. That picture is stunning.

  9. That skirt has the perfect shape, most of my skirts are pencil skirts or have a straight shape and I love how yours has a little bounce. I need to look for something similar to it for my closet! Great neutral outfit and love your boots, too!
