My Rose Colored Shades is my take on the old familiar phrase, “seeing life through rose colored glasses.” It’s about discovering, recognizing and appreciating the simple pleasures in life that bring me joy and put a little sunshine in my heart even on a rainy day. Life is filled with natural highs, and I don’t mean just the “jumping off a plane” kind. Actually, I don’t mean that kind at all, which would be more of a natural terror for me. You know what I’m talking about. We all get that little rush of adrenaline when we find a flattering pair of jeans or snag a “too good to be true” bargain, enjoy a meal/dessert that hits the spot, witness the first little buds on a plant we’ve planted, finish a good workout, hear the carefree laughter of a child, find ourselves in good company having good conversation… The list is endless.

As mothers, we often unknowingly make life all about the kids. We skip date nights but never miss a play date. We skip that trip to the gym but never miss the kids’ soccer practice, piano lesson or dance rehearsal. We often forego that restaurant that will most likely satisfy our palate because we’re more preoccupied with finding a restaurant that’s kid-friendly. We promise to get to those things that interest us later, when the kids get older. Well, do you know when that ‘later’ will come? NEVER! Unless you make it happen. Now that I’m in my forties, I feel that I have to make that ‘later’ happen now more than ever. So this is my playground, where I get to talk about and play with the things that I enjoy and love.

This is my outlet for all the things that make me excited about life. The natural highs I encounter in my day-to-day through my current passions: fashion, food, fitness, and everything in between. It’s also a reminder to be grateful for my blessings. I feel incredibly blessed to be a wife to a loving husband, mother to three beautiful girls, and surrounded by great friends and family. And my ultimate high and purpose in life is to follow Christ. I’m forever grateful for His Grace.

Thank you for answering me back on IFB. You mentioned you lived here in Rio de Janeiro, the town I live, although I born in Minas Gerais!

Well, may God bless all of you!

    Beijos,
    Cris.

ps.: should I speak in portuguese with you?

  2. When I read this I feel like I am reading about my own life. Mom’s always put family first, as is should be. I love that you are so passionate about not only family, but have others interests as well…I too love keeping up with current fashion trends, and staying healthy and fit.
