Outfit Highlight: Mixing Patterns and Textures

Mixing Patterns and Textures 1
There is no denying that fall is here. As I drive around my neighborhood, I see beds of red, orange and yellow leaves adorning the driveways of almost every home creating a beautiful fall color palette. Too bad the temperatures have also been very quick to catch up to the season here in Michigan, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 40s. I ran to the car after we took these pictures.

I’m not one to mix prints and patterns often but I see it on other bloggers and I love it. Here I’m mixing lace, stripes and eyelet but the navy running throughout the outfit keeps it cohesive and, to be honest, more in my comfort zone. I’m just taking baby steps, maybe next time I’ll try mixing prints, patterns and colors!

Hope everyone had a great start to the week!

  1. I love this outfit! I knew I would from your instagram last night. I love the color palette. You are so classy and beautiful! I can’t believe it is already so chilly there! It got cooler here this weekend but our highs are back up to the 80s today.

  2. Hi Cynthia, I found you through Carylee’s linkup today! Your outfit really caught my eye – I’m a huge fan of navy and this combo is so pretty on you! I have these exact Halogen pumps in both navy and red and they are a couple of my current favorites. 5. Cute mix 🙂 I love the fall too, the mornings really are tricky as the afternoon normally warms up after a cold morning. 8. Oh I love the subtle pattern mix here! It’s so gorgeous! And you always have the best details/accessories. The cognac booties I wore in Montreal were inspired by you because I kept craving a good pair ever since I saw yours in your stripe top/navy skirt/cognac bootie outfit! Always such great inspiration, woman!

  9. Hello Cynthia! Love how the whole outfit! I really liked how you mixed colors, patterns and textures in a very subtle way. It all flows harmoniously. Love the green and blue together and the unexpected red from the bag. And of course, you look amazing. Thanks for visiting my blog. I voted for you and also subscribed to your blog. Take care and blessings to you and your family. xoxo, Jeannette

  10. I love how you incorporated all the textures and mixed patterns together. You really sealed the deal with the red clutch. I cant wait to see what you come up with next. This look is brilliant.

  11. These colors are so rich and pretty! I love how this outfit says fall in an understated way rather than the usual plaid and scarves kind of way. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love those things too! But it’s nice to be less obvious sometimes. Gorgeous, elegant outfit as always Cynthia!

  12. Cynthia, how gorgeous are you in all of your color-blocking and textures. I absolutely love it. =) I love pairing Green with Blue. You look WOW!!

  13. I was looking at your outfit for a couple of minutes just in awe of the colors and textures! What a beauty! I have never purchased anything at Anthro, but they just came to STL and I need to go in there to look again. Last time I peaked in there, but my hubs was along and… well, I was rushed. ha!! You look great as always!

  14. I knew this outfit had to be from Anthropolgie or J.Crew! I love almost everything in those stores! To be honest, I would probably be more comfortable in this outfit too compared to some of the more “fashionably” daring outfits.
