How to Wear Chambray in Every Season

chambray_everyday_text
Who doesn’t like a good chambray? It seems like anywhere you look, chambray is the common denominator in a variety of outfits. Its versatility makes it a must-have closet staple for every fashionista. It goes with pretty much anything and can be worn in all seasons. It’s a given that chambray is one of the go-to items during the fall and winter seasons since it’s great for layering. But I find myself reaching for it even in the warmer weather seasons especially since it comes in different styles and weights.

In case you were wondering, chambray is a lightweight plain-weave cloth initially made of linen but later applied to cotton and even silk. It typically comes in blue but can come in any color. What’s the difference between chambray and denim, you ask? Actually, there are a lot more similarities than differences. But if you want to get technical, the difference is in the weave, while chambray uses a plain-weave pattern, denim uses a twill pattern. The easy way to tell is by looking on the underside of each fabric. While you will notice a much lighter color on the underside of denim, the chambray’s underside color is very similar to its front. Maybe this is a little too much information, but now you know.

I’m sharing below some typical and not-so-typical ways to wear chambray in every season.

  3. I actually love discussing fabric weaves and fibers. It’s funny how so many people don’t even realize there is a difference! And I love chambray. As a shirt, it’s the most versatile piece in my closet.

  4. No argument here. A chambray goes with anything and everything and it is seasonless. Loved this post and all of these outfits especially the Winter ones. Currently in my post today I am styling a chambray also.

BTW, I am looking for a few guest posts to write any vacation-related posts the week of June 8th. I would loe to have you Cynthia. Let me know. Thanks, Ada. =)

  5. Oh, I love how you paired it with the leggings. I wouldn’t have thought of that. And each look is totally pin-worthy! Thanks for this. I love my chambray but felt the need to freshen it up a bit.
