Outfit Highlight: Going Back and Going Bold

Banana Republic black floral midi skirt, Zara cobalt blue top, Jessica Simpson Carmody caged sandals, GUESS Delaney mini tote, bold colors
Happy Monday, my friends! Hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day weekend.

I have a confession to make. There’s been a rekindling of sorts in my life. I’ve fallen back in love with Banana Republic. BR used to be my favorite store back, oh I don’t know, about 10 years ago when I was working and just starting to have children. I could always find something at BR that I liked. Slowly, my enthusiasm started to fade as their selections became more and more basic. The combination of BR becoming a haven for basic workplace attire and me deciding to become a SAHM after my third child led me to part ways with BR. I have recently gone back to BR and surprisingly found myself picking up quite a few items from there. I think my last three featured outfits included BR items. I don’t know if it’s the Marissa Webb factor but I feel like the selections are more modern and updated and I’m seeing a little more flair and pizzazz in their pieces. And the prices are still reasonable, especially with all the promotions. What can I say? It’s a win win situation.

I don’t typically go for bold colors but I love this combination of colors. I love the black and white print on this BR midi skirt and how it makes the bold cobalt blue and red stand out. Also, I’ve been looking for cobalt blue heels for a while, so I was happy to find these caged sandals on sale.

Friends, I’m going to sound like a broken record until May 22nd. But would you take a minute to vote for me for the 2015 REDBOOK Real Women Style Awards? 1. Love this look so much! You know I love bold colors! 😉 I will feature this look of yours this Friday on my blog. I have new themes everyday now and Friday’s called They Got It Right. By the way, already voted for you and will try more later. 😉

  2. What a pretty outfit. I haven’t shopped Banana in years, I really like the few current pieces you’ve shown from them though.

  3. I am surprised to hear you say you don’t turn to bold colors! I don’t know why! I think it’s because your wardrobe is so versatile and interesting and sometimes I can associate the lack of bold colors as boring. And your style is far from boring! So, thanks for proving me wrong. I love this on you and I absolutely just voted! Good luck!!

  4. Really love this look. The skirt is fabulous, printed, with texture and it has pockets, all of which makes it a definite all around win. The sandals and the top are a beautiful find as well.

Oh yeah it seems you can vote more than once (?) so I hearted a different outfit.

  5. I haven’t been to BR in a while, but now you’ve made me want to! I love the bright cobalt blue with the black and white printed skirt. The red bag just ties it all together 🙂

  6. Hello Cynthia! I voted again and I will make sure I continue voting. Not sure if I told you before but a have a huge soft spot for skirts, especially midis and the one you are wearing today is simply gorgeous. From the color to the way it fits you , it is all around perfection. I like BR but like you, I can go months without visiting the store until I see something I like on a magazine or one of their catalogs and then fall in love again. Not sure why… I think its because I have always co-related BR with work attire. Weird! Anyways, you look beautiful and very stylish as always and I must tell you that I am obsessed with those caged heels! They are gorgeous and I want a them! Hope you had a wonderful Mother’s Day and continue celebrating because you deserve it! XOXO, Jeannette

  8. Gorgeous color combination! The cobalt is just fabulous. Now I am thinking maybe I need to visit BR again. Looks like they have changed things up a bit.

  9. I feel the very same about BR. There was one year that I swear my entire wardrobe came from there and then other years I felt everything was just basic and boring. I am loving their spring styles this year and adore your outfit!

  10. I totally agree about Banana Republic! I am starting to love their pieces again. I adore the combo of black and cobalt ! For every season! And I voted for you!! Thanks for linking up today and good luck!! I will be so excited if you win! Susan

  11. Cannot go wrong with a beautiful midi skirt and a solid top!! Absolutely love BR right now. I was in the same dislike BR boat an year or so ago, and then their awesome collabs with Marimekko and L’Wren Scott happened and I fell back in love with them!!

  12. I love BR, but I shop the outlet. That midi skirt is just gorgeous with the cobalt blue and those caged sandals. I recently saw that a pretty top blogger I follow is also in the Redbook contest! Of course, I voted for you! lol! But, wow, even if you don’t win (and you better!), how awesome that you were chosen… its like you’re famous! 🙂 Have a great weekend!
