Outfit Highlight: Going Back and Going Bold

Banana Republic black floral midi skirt, Zara cobalt blue top, Jessica Simpson Carmody caged sandals, GUESS Delaney mini tote, bold colors
Happy Monday, my friends! Hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day weekend.

I have a confession to make. There’s been a rekindling of sorts in my life. I’ve fallen back in love with Banana Republic. BR used to be my favorite store back, oh I don’t know, about 10 years ago when I was working and just starting to have children. I could always find something at BR that I liked. Slowly, my enthusiasm started to fade as their selections became more and more basic. The combination of BR becoming a haven for basic workplace attire and me deciding to become a SAHM after my third child led me to part ways with BR. I have recently gone back to BR and surprisingly found myself picking up quite a few items from there. I think my last three featured outfits included BR items. I don’t know if it’s the Marissa Webb factor but I feel like the selections are more modern and updated and I’m seeing a little more flair and pizzazz in their pieces. And the prices are still reasonable, especially with all the promotions. What can I say? It’s a win win situation. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: The Art of Layering

J.Crew Regent blazer, Zara stripe tee, Gap chambray shirt, Gap Always Skinny jeans, Kate Spade crossbody, Vans slip-ons, layering
Slip-ons…oh how I’ve missed you! We finally reached temperatures in the 40s over the weekend. I kid you not, there are people going around in shorts as if we’re having beach weather. It’s not quite warm enough to be wearing shorts for me but I did not hesitate to break out my Vans slip-ons. I just couldn’t wait to wear them again.

This is the thing, we’re less than two weeks away from spring but it sure doesn’t look like spring is just around the corner in these parts. My mind, however, has already bid farewell to winter, so I’m trying to forego the heavy winter coat the minute I get the chance. But how do you stay warm in 40 degree weather without a winter coat? Say hello to layering. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: The Cocoon Coat

Happy Monday, my friends!

Having a sick kid right before a family vacation is a little disconcerting but, thankfully, it looks like she’s on the mend and ready for our trip to Disney World. In between getting Valentine’s Day treats ready for school and packing, I had a chance to sneak out for a photo shoot and amazingly, the weather has been my best friend lately, warming up for me on the weekends.

Despite the fact that I have all the winter jackets and coats that I need, I’ve been wanting a cocoon coat for a while. Perhaps it’s the oversized slouchy fit, but there’s something about cocoon coats that exudes a cool, laid back vibe without being sloppy. And because they’re oversized, it’s great for layering. My Top 5 Favorite Summer Colors

As summer weather is slowly making its exit (sob!), it felt appropriate to do a recap of sorts. But instead of doing a recap of just my outfits, I wanted to focus on the colors and color pairings that I enjoyed wearing this … Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Yin and Yang

Yin and Yang

For this post I thought I’d play with the concept of yin and yang by juxtaposing complementary opposing styles to create a cohesive whole. In other words, I’m mixing and matching. I’m mixing formal with informal, old with new, light with dark, and … Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Pink is for Pride

The hot pink scarf and clutch really liven up this otherwise monochromatic outfit. I’m not a big fan of color coordinating my accessories but this time I just couldn’t resist. The clutch is way too cute to pass up. The … Continue reading
