Outfit Highlight: The Iconic Look

chambray shirt, black and white, stripe skirt, red pumps, mint clutch, iconic look

Happy Monday, my friends!

My girls’ last day of school is tomorrow, which means no more rushed mornings, at least for a while. It also means less alone time for me, which may prove to be a challenge when it comes to blogging. I can’t wait for summer camp to start!

I consider today’s look to be the quintessential fashion blogger’s look. How many times have you seen this combination of a chambray top with a black and white striped skirt and a pop of color via the accessories? But I can totally see why it’s so popular. This ensemble just works. It has all the right ingredients for a great outfit. It’s become a classic iconic look.

Speaking of classic, let me introduce you to Shabby Apple, a clothing company that creates and sells vintage-inspired clothing designed to build confidence and empower women. They offer modernized versions of classy classic looks from the past, both in style and coverage. I love their story, you can read it here when you get a chance.

I’ve been wanting a more fitted chambray top that I could wear with skirts as well as under a blazer, so when I found the Afternoon Chambray Top while browsing thru Shabby Apple’s wide ranging selections, I knew I had to have it. The size small fits me perfectly and I also love the wash that it comes in. This classic chambray top pairs well with a lot of their skirts as well as many pieces in my own wardrobe.

  1. This type of skirt with the wide black+white stripes is a must-have. I own a similar one. The strawberry red heels were a great addition. =)

  2. The mint and red accessories isn’t something I would have thought of, but looks amazing together! The colors play off each other perfectly! Stunning!

  3. Love this outfit! I have seriously wanted that skirt, but it just doesn’t fit me right…too pear shaped I guess? But yes this outfit pairing is perfect! Love it! Stopping by from Get Your Pretty On, you were the person right in front of me on the link up 🙂

  4. I need a skirt like that in my closet 🙂 I have a b/w striped skirt, but it is more of a pencil skirt. I really love the color of that chambray top and the red heels look great and give it a nice pop of color.

  5. Gorgeous! I love how light that chambray looks as compared to some others. I just saw a skirt looking just like that at Target and almost snatched it up. And my exact thoughts, “now that’s a fashion blogger skirt.” 🙂

  6. Hi Cynthia! I love how you’ve used color here. I love red and mint togeather and the little pops in your accessories really do the trick. You look great as always!

  7. Love the look of this whole outfit! The skirt is just too cute! I’m in love with the clutch. Might have to pick on up.

  8. Yes, it’s a common combination, but I think that execution is a key ingredient, and you, my dear, are always the best at execution! I love the fit and pairing of each piece! Good luck now that school is out!!! Carylee | more pieces of me

  9. LOL!! I think you are so right that as bloggers we are have one time or another wore an outfit like this. It would so funny to have a blogger meet up and we all wear the same outfit 🙂 Regardless, everything about this is just perfect and I would wear it in a heartbeat.

Thank you for joining TBT Fashion link up and hope to see you Thursday.

  10. I LOVE the skirt and have been eyeing up that style for a while. I always think they’re a bit too short for me but I might not be able to hold back any longer! Love the look!

  11. Such a beautiful and classic look! I actually have never thought to pair my chambray shirt and striped look together, so you have given me some inspiration. Seriously may be copying you very soon! Enjoy your time of summer break.
