Happy St. Patty’s Day! I just realized that I don’t have anything green in my closet. That needs to change. Anyway, what a crazy busy week and weekend I’ve had! And what a crazy confusing weather we’re having! One day it’s almost 50 degrees and the next we have a major snow storm and then back to freezing temperatures. I don’t even know what to wear anymore. So I decided to keep it simple; a basic white shirt and black leggings. I really just wanted to highlight the shoes and accessories. I’ve been trying on all sorts of caged, gladiator, tie-up sandals. These were, by far, my favorite ones. I think the wedge heel was the selling point for me. For whatever reason, I think wedges are more comfortable. And this sweater jacket, which I also wore here, is one of my all-time favorite purchases via Loehmann’s (sadly no longer in business). I’m so glad I didn’t listen to my husband when he said it makes me look fat. I really don’t care because it’s so warm and cozy. I wear it in the house, I wear it outside, I dress it up and I dress it down; I basically wear it all the time. I finished the look with mixed metal geometric accessories.
But enough about me. The real highlight of my entire week was the celebration of my mom’s 80th birthday! Yes, you read it right. She turns the big 8-0 today. My mom is truly an inspiration to me in so many different ways. This birthday was particularly special for our family because she’s a cancer survivor going on 14 years now and has recently gone thru some ups and downs when her cancer came back four years ago. She has handled everything with such grace and inner strength that it is more than befitting to call her my hero. By God’s grace, she’s been on the winning side of this battle and so it’s a true blessing to be able to celebrate her 80th birthday. And I have to say, she’s not only a beautiful soul, but she is also one stylish lady. For one of the table decorations, I gathered several vintage photos of her earlier years and displayed them in picture frames. I think I got my sense of style from her but I really pale in comparison to some of the seriously stylish frocks she was rockin’ back then. One of these days, I’ll share more of her vintage photos but here’s one for now.

Happy St. Patty’s day to you too. I attempted to wear green today, but someone pointed out to me that the color I’m wearing is actually closer to teal. Oh well, I tried LOL. Although, you can’t go wrong with black leggings/ white top combo no matter what time of the year it is.
Happy birthday to your mum, btw 🙂

Such a great look, Cynthia! And I love that sweater!
So wonderful about your mom turning 80, especially after battling cancer. I lost my mother two years ago to cancer, and miss her dearly every day. I too, share vintage photographs of her almost weekly and absolutely love the one of your mom!
I love those sandals and that sweater coat. You look great. Happy 80th to your Mom. 🙂
I love this look!! The coat, the clutch, the shoes… love it all!!

Wow – I got goosebumps reading your post! Sounds like there’s a lot more to celebrate with your mom’s birthday than her age! What a blessing! And another wow from me because you are killing it with those leggings! I need to live in your closet. I’m convinced! You look amazing as ever.
Happy Happy Birthday to your mom! She looks so beautiful in the pic and I’m sure more so today! I can see where you get your flawless style. I’m all about basics and black and white can be the two hottest colors when worn together and you are rocking this look. Have a lovely day!

Happy birthday to your mom! It is indeed a GOD’s blessing that she made it to 80 years old (and still counting).
I love your outfit, by the way. I especially love the white top.

I don’t really own that much green either! Luckily I had the day off work and didn’t really have to go out in public much. Love those shoes!
