5 Lessons My Mother Taught Me in Her Last Days

mother, mother's day, truth, words of wisdom, faith, God, Jesus, gratitude, death, eternity

The first part of 2016 has been one of the most difficult periods of my adult life. From the time the doctors recommended hospice care for my mother until her passing at the end of February, I felt that my emotions were like a dam ready to burst at the prick of a pin. Without a doubt, the only thing that held me together was the grace of God, which was so apparent during this season of my life.

As I spent time daily with my ailing mother, she taught me, directly and indirectly, many things about life. Some she had already been instilling in me since I was a child and others I learned as I listened to and observed her in the last couple of months of her life. These are treasures that I will carry with me in my journey thru life and hopefully pass on to my children because I know they are from God. Continue reading

Our Disney Experience

Disney World, Disney Magic, Disney vacation, family vacation, travel with kids, Magic Kingdom
Our family spent six nights at Disney World from February 10-16 of this year. This was our first family vacation at Disney World and although we had an amazing time, there were quite a few things that I’ve learned during our time there that makes me want to go back and do it right or better the second time around. By no means am I an expert on the subject now but I’d like to share a few tips and recommendations from my personal experience that I think may be helpful to those of you who are planning your first visit to Disney World in the near future. I have turned down several offers for sponsored posts from kids’ clothing companies for various reasons but when I was approached by Mary Helen Clothing, I couldn’t turn them down after browsing thru their adorable collection of playtime wear as well as special occasion dresses. Each piece is unique and I fell in love with their use of different prints and textures. The attention to detail is apparent in all of their pieces. Continue reading

Happy Halloween everyone!

Halloween is one of my kids’ favorite holidays, for obvious reasons. So when I was offered the opportunity to experience Hallowe’en in Greenfield Village this past weekend, I knew it would be a fun family event we wouldn’t want to miss. It runs for three weekends in October and we were able to make it to the last weekend of the event. Continue reading

The Love Language of Words

The Love Language of Words 1

We started out as friends. There were a handful of us who would hang out together, a group of young adults trying to make it in the world, uncertain of anything except for the fact that the world was our oyster. Slowly, those around us faded and we found ourselves spending time alone together, you know, as “friends” often do. Little note cards would be exchanged, at first as simple platonic gestures of good wishes, whether it was for safe travels or good luck on an exam. As our relationship developed, so did the written notes, focusing not exclusively on me or him, but us. Those words on the cards became road signs indicating that we were both headed in the same direction. Continue reading
