For this post I thought I’d play with the concept of yin and yang by juxtaposing complementary opposing styles to create a cohesive whole. In other words, I’m mixing and matching. I’m mixing formal with informal, old with new, light with dark, and feminine with masculine. The tuxedo shirt and structured jacket add polish to the look while the distressed boyfriend jeans keeps it casual. To soften the masculine qualities of this outfit, I added feminine accessories such as the gold-toned animal print clutch and high wedge sandals. I also added a feminine dainty heart necklace and looped bracelet along with a more masculine studded snake cuff. And of course, black and white are opposites that always go together in my book. If the whole is indeed greater than the sum of its parts than I’d like to call this an elevated casual chic look.
Zara blazer | Madewell shirt | Express jeans | Guess sandals | clutch (similar here and here) | Vince Camuto studded snake cuff | Dogeared necklace | silver looped bracelet (at Nordstrom Rack stores) | Coach sunnies (similar)
