I’ve been obsessed with grid prints and windowpane prints for a couple of years now. Every time I see an outfit with a grid print piece or see a post about grid/windowpane prints, I automatically zero in my attention. I’ve already featured two windowpane print tops on the blog (as shown below) but I had been wanting a grid/windowpane print bottom for a while. So when I found a grid print skirt during Zara’s end of season sale earlier this year, it seemed like a no-brainer. Of course, I had to get it.
I have since tried to pair the skirt with pretty much every single sweater in my closet, including a couple of new ones. Do you ever have those moments when you envision an outfit in your mind but it just doesn’t seem to come together in real life? That’s how I felt about this skirt and all those sweaters. To be completely honest, this chambray top pairing was no different. It looks “okay” but I’m not completely happy with it. Not to say that all my other looks are always on point, but I guess they’ve at least felt right to me. I could have easily omitted this look from the blog and opted to show you another outfit but I wanted you to see it like it is. I’d like to call it my outfit in progress.

I am also loving windowpane/grid print this year. I hope this trend sticks around for awhile! I like the way your skirt styling turned out but I do know that feeling of “this outfit is not quite what I was thinking it would be!”

Great pieces! I think the 2 pieces of oposite colors would look great together

How funny….I totally have that feeling (seems like more often than I like) of this will look great with this…and then it doesn’t. The worst is traveling although I’ve learned to try it all on before I go! I will disagree with you on this look, though. I think it turned out great! You didn’t say what you don’t like about it because in the 2-D world, I think it hits all the points! Jodie

Loving the grid patterns! So chic! Looks like maybe that skirt is hard to tuck a shirt into? Don’t you hate when it doesn’t work out like in our imaginations?!
But you ALWAYS look fab, Dear.

I love your skirt. I’ve seen this pattern in a top and a coat but not in a skirt, it’s fabulous!
I like it! But, I do know exactly what you are talking about when the version in your head doesn’t match real life. That is pretty much my everyday.
So interesting to hear your thoughts on this outfit! When I see it, it is nothing but perfection to me! I love the fit, and it’s so effortless! Definitely on board with the windowpane trend here, too!

I completely know what you mean about outfits not coming together the way you envision. That being said, I really do like the chambray with your skirt!
Oh My Goodness! That Zara skirt was a killer find! I absolutely love it!
I could use more grid prints in my life. I currently have some black pants with white squares which I love. That skirt is stunning and I love the outfit you created with it, Cynthia. =) Polished perfection!
I’m so with you! I love stripes, and I love plaids, but when designers finally start embracing a new pattern destined to be a classic, I can’t get enough. The moment grid print arrived I’ve been just as obsessed.

Well I like it and don’t see anything unworthy of a blog post on the outfit except maybe that the white really stands out, but that’s all. Cute and chic outfit. Thank you for sharing this look today on “Bloggers Who Have Inspired me”

I know why you have to get it, you can never go wrong with black and white, and this particular print is very pretty. The one with the white blazer is my favorite – very chic and polished ensemble. Looking great, Cynthia!
