Winter is not over yet but I am so ready to do my favorite winter trends roundup. I have to say, winter is not an easy season for bloggers, especially those of us who live in colder climates. Taking photos outdoors in freezing weather is not my idea of fun and neither my husband’s, my reluctant photographer. So major props to all you ladies who braved thru the frigid temperatures to inspire the rest of us with your amazing outfits.
For this season, I thought I’d do a roundup of my favorite winter essentials. We can’t live without layering, coats, boots, cardigans and scarves in the winter. It was so much fun to see how you ladies styled these basic winter staples and took them to another level. Again, it was super hard to narrow all my favorites down to the few below.
Layering at Its Best
Layering is a survival essential for winter and you can get really creative in the process. I love how Cheryl added dimension and texture to her outfit with the belted scarf and faux fur jacket. What a great layered ensemble! Rachelle paired the feminine soft pink hues in her t-shirt and button down with the more masculine black moto jacket. An unexpected color pairing that absolutely works. I just love the color palette of Rachel’s layers of neutrals. The striped tee peeking out is perfect.
Coats Galore
The different prints, patterns and colors of featured winter coats were a feast for the eyes. Lydia looks like a million bucks in her beautiful leopard coat. And you know she got it for a good price as she is a bargain guru. Angie looks stunning in her beautiful bright red coat with a sweater of the same color. The red and blue color combo is striking. And how unique is the light blue/mint shade of Alison’s coat. Love how she added a colorful scarf for contrast.
These Boots are Made for Walking
This is the best part about winter right here, that we get to wear boots and booties! I fell in love with Blaire’s OTK boots the minute I saw her post. Too bad it was sold out! It’s hard to look cute in snowy weather with the puffy jackets and clunky snow boots, but somehow Shauna manages to look adorable in her furry snow boots, puffer jacket and cute hat. I don’t know if Dawn’s booties are made for walking but they’re certainly made for admiring. Those booties are just fierce!
Cardigans Re-invented
I loved seeing the wide array of interesting cardigans that were out there in the blogosphere. My favorites really stood out for their uniqueness. What do you get when you cross a cardigan and a coat? A coatigan, according to Charnele. She is owning it with her rich wine-colored coatigan. I also love Mahshid’s winter white version. Her monochrome outfit is just stunning. The fun pattern on Jill’s cardigan adds interest and can be paired with just about every color.
Creative Scarving
These scarves are on double duty and working overtime. Love that Brooke and I have the same exact scarf on but our styling couldn’t be more different. I just love how she elevated her LBD with the scarf as the centerpiece. Carrie looks warm and chic in her plaid blanket scarf which she belted into a kimono style cardigan. I love everything about Shanna’s outfit, from head to toe. The way she tied the ends of the scarf adds whimsy to this extremely charming outfit.
Are you in love with these looks as well? What were your favorite trends this winter?

I always see you as so stylish and put together, so I was thrilled when I saw my blanket scarf cardi outfit featured here as one of your favorite winter trends!! Thanks so much, this made my night. Also, it is really hard to tell that you and Brooke have the same scarf on, just because it is styled so differently! Great post with lots of ideas!!
