The weather is being nice and cooperative these days. Weekend temperatures have been a little more mild, which works for me because I do my photo shoots over the weekend.
Initially, I envisioned wearing an all-gray outfit because I’m a big fan of monochromatic looks and they typically work beautifully. Winter took us by surprise last year. It came unannounced in full force and more than overstayed its welcome. Happy Monday my friends!
Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a great birthday weekend filled with two of my favorite things, good food and quality time with the people I love. The best part was when my girls woke up at 7 a.m. to cook me breakfast, all on their own. They did an awesome job but really just the fact that they thought of doing such a thoughtful thing for my birthday made me happy.
I’m really excited about this post! Remember back in September, I was on the hunt for a plaid shirt and posted about it here. Well, after waiting forever I eventually got to purchase my top choice on sale, which was the Madewell ex-boyfriend shirt in cherry plaid. So I thought it would be fun to recreate the three looks that I shared in that same post in real life. On top of that, I took each look from fall to winter for a total of six different outfits. Hope everyone had a good weekend! The best part about my weekend was the delicious food I got to enjoy. The worst part is that I probably gained about twenty pounds. J and I had a date night on Friday. We enjoyed a nice Italian dinner before heading over to the Detroit Opera House to see a showing of Wicked. Talk about an awesome show! It has all the elements of a great musical.
I also hosted an early Christmas dinner with my parents and my brother’s family last night and I made prime rib for the first time. It turned out better than I expected. It’s a good feeling when people enjoy the food you’ve cooked. Continue reading

Can you believe there are only ten days left until Christmas?! Panic has officially set in. I still have shopping left to do, gifts to wrap, parties to prepare for…aaargh! What I really need to do is step back and focus on the real meaning of Christmas, being thankful for all of my blessings and thinking of ways to bless others.
My plan was to wear this outfit ‘as is’ to my husband’s work Christmas party. At the very last minute, I swapped the booties with pointed toe heels and the leather jacket with a structured blazer. My husband’s industry is a little more conservative so my second choice felt more appropriate. But that doesn’t mean I can’t wear this outfit to other parties. Continue reading

Trends come and go and I have my share of fun with them but I always find myself going back to my first love, understated classics. A structured blazer, my favorite black jeans and a pair of boots, to me, define a classic outfit. The same goes for a color palette that includes camel, black and gold.
