Playing Dress Up with Golden Tote

Playing Dress Up with Golden Tote
I had heard several times, from friends and other bloggers, about services where they mail you a package of clothing items that you can try on in the comfort of your own home, and then you decide to either keep them or return them. I was always curious to try one of these services so imagine how glad I was when Golden Tote reached out to me to offer their service. They offer two options, the $49 tote of 2-3 items and the $149 tote of 5-7 items.

I have to admit though, I’m always a little apprehensive about having other people pick out clothes for me because I have my own style and know right away if I like something or not. The good thing about Golden Tote is that they let you choose one or two of the items in your tote. They then pick out the other “surprise” items based on a style profile that you fill out ahead of time. As it turns out, one of the surprise items, the floral top, ended up being my favorite one. In the case that one of the items ends up not being a good fit or not your style, Golden Tote has a trading group on Facebook where you can exchange these items with other members.

It was fun playing dress up with the items I received. The best part was that most of the items paired very easily with existing pieces in my closet. Below are four looks incorporating my favorite items.

  1. I’ve never used one of these services before. I love all of these looks so much, I can’t pick a favorite! This might make me finally try Golden Tote!

  2. Like you, I’d also be a little uncomfortable having other people pick out clothes (or cosmetics) for me in one of these box subscription services. It must come from that “I shop alone” gene we share! Or maybe it’s an Aquarian thing! At any rate, they picked out some nice pieces. I like the plaid shirt and will be interested to hear whether it’s “the one” for you. Or maybe just the first one this year!

  3. Omg, I am SO in love with the white dress paired with the plaid button up and booties! What a great idea for taking a summery dress into fall!

  4. I have tried Stitch Fix, but I have never tried Golden Tote. I have seen one other blogger review their pieces, though! My favorites are the denim dress and the grey skirt! I am sure it was fun to receive a bag of clothes in the mail to try on!! 🙂

  5. What a clever idea! I would never think to let someone else pick out clothes for me – I may have to try this. Love the outfit with the floral top and envelope skort – it’s super cute!
