Weekly Wisdom: When You Feel the Spirit Nudging…

God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Bible, Scripture, homeless, the poor, righteousness, obeying God's commands, love your neighbor

I had driven by him several times during the summer. With cardboard sign in hand and a grimace on his face, he would stand there for hours with the hot sun shining down on him. I found myself always in a hurry to get somewhere so all I managed to do was to make a mental note to myself to stop by Target to buy him a cap and a cold drink and bring them over to him one of these days. Weeks went by and when I finally made my way back to that intersection, he was no longer there. Another missed opportunity, I thought to myself. Continue reading

Happy Monday, my friends!

We had a packed weekend, starting off with a date night to celebrate our 14th anniversary, an impromptu gathering at our place to watch the Michigan vs Michigan State game (crazy final play!) and our annual trip to the cider mill. My husband planned our date night this time and decided to take me to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra for a night of Beethoven. Although I’ve always appreciated classical music, we haven’t gone out of our way to attend classical music concerts. I feel like I’ve been missing out because I thoroughly enjoyed it. Continue reading

Weekly Wisdom: The God of the Universe Knows Us by Name

Scripture, Psalm 8:4, Bible, God's Word, majesty of God, intimate God, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, Crazy Love, bible study, words of wisdom, live by faith

I’ve been trying to write this post for the past couple of weeks and I find myself at a loss for words every time. Nothing I come up with seems to appropriately convey the magnitude of what I’m trying to express. Perhaps I still don’t have a firm grasp of the concept I’m trying to present. Nonetheless, I feel compelled to put it on paper (online) and I hope it helps to remind us of the awesome God we serve.

Is it perplexing to you that the God of the universe, the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent God, who made the heavens and the earth and all living things, knows you and me by name, knows the number of hairs on our head and is familiar with all of our ways? Continue reading

Happy Columbus Day, my friends!

I’m so thankful that we had a glorious warm sunny day yesterday, the perfect day to take these pictures. I really do appreciate a day like this in October, especially in Michigan.

Outfit Highlight: Love My Olive

Nordstrom, Lush, olive tunic, Kate Spade olive bag, Madewell chevron necklace, cream fur vest, Express leggings, Zara booties, earth tones, fall colors, fall fashion, casual

Happy Monday, my friends!

I’ve been fighting a bad cold all week and it’s been exhausting. The fact that temperatures just decided to drop about 15 degrees did not help. I’m just thankful I had enough of my energy back to take these pictures. But I’m keeping this one short because I still have some resting to do.

I had planned to wear this olive tunic with just the leggings and a pair of strappy heels but it was a bit too chilly for my taste so at the last minute I decided to add the fur vest and booties. I mentioned in my last Weekend Wish List post that I’m loving olive this season and I think this outfit is a perfect example. I have a feeling this Lush olive tunic and the Zara booties are fast becoming my go-to items for this season. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Earth Tones and Neutrals

JORD watch, wood watches, earth tones, fall colors, fall fashion, Madewell embroidered dress, tan booties, Forever 21 cardigan, Panama hat, boho chic, transitional style

Happy Monday, my friends!

Last week I talked about jewel tones being one of my favorite hues for fall. This week I’m talking about another one of my favorite color palettes, earth tones and neutrals. There is something calming, grounding and timeless about these hues. They are appropriate for any season but they seem especially well suited for fall. Earth tones remind us of the intrinsic beauty of nature and what it offers not only thru colors, but also thru textures, patterns, etc. Continue reading
