Weekly Wisdom – Matthew 25:45 | The Drop Box

lent15_weeklywisdom

Last year, instead of giving up something for Lent, I decided to commit to doing the daily Lent devotionals offered by She Reads Truth and sharing what I had learned from them on the blog as a way to strengthen my walk with God as I explained here. I had every intention to do the same this year as I found it to be very rewarding. But I confess, the desire was there but the discipline was lacking. As Ash Wednesday rolled around, I found myself being distracted by the busyness of life and putting other things first before my time with God. It’s one thing to simply meditate on the Word, and quite another to be able to articulate what I’ve learned in a coherent way on the blog. I have to admit that I felt uninspired and it was starting to feel like an obligation.

I felt like I needed a push. I needed the Holy Spirit to move me or just give me a big kick in the butt really. And that kick came in the form of a movie called The Drop Box. I went to one of the exclusive showings of this documentary two nights ago with my husband and it was certainly an eye-opening experience, if not heart tugging and hopefully, permanently convicting. The Drop Box is a documentary about a South Korean pastor who decided to build a “baby box” in the front part of his church building in order to rescue unwanted babies that would otherwise be abandoned in the streets of Seoul with very little chance of surviving. There are obviously many socio-political controversies that have stemmed from this but I’m not here to talk about those things. I want to talk about the heart of this humble servant and all those involved in this ministry, including the children he rescues. Continue reading

Currently on My Radar

currently on my radar, spring trends, wish list, shopping list, pastels, white and black

When I look outside, there is no hint of spring. All I see are huge mounds of unmelted snow. But in my mind, I’m already dreaming of warmer weather, open toe sandals, pastel colored tops, white moto jackets and pretty pink dresses. My wish list is growing by the minute. I’m sharing a few items that are already on my radar for this spring. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Working on the Grid

J.Crew wool coat, Zara grid print skirt, Gap chambray shirt, leopard clutch, Zara booties, windowpane
I’ve been obsessed with grid prints and windowpane prints for a couple of years now. Every time I see an outfit with a grid print piece or see a post about grid/windowpane prints, I automatically zero in my attention. I’ve already featured two windowpane print tops on the blog (as shown below) but I had been wanting a grid/windowpane print bottom for a while. So when I found a grid print skirt during Zara’s end of season sale earlier this year, it seemed like a no-brainer. Of course, I had to get it. Continue reading

Our Disney Experience

Disney World, Disney Magic, Disney vacation, family vacation, travel with kids, Magic Kingdom
Our family spent six nights at Disney World from February 10-16 of this year. This was our first family vacation at Disney World and although we had an amazing time, there were quite a few things that I’ve learned during our time there that makes me want to go back and do it right or better the second time around. By no means am I an expert on the subject now but I’d like to share a few tips and recommendations from my personal experience that I think may be helpful to those of you who are planning your first visit to Disney World in the near future. Outfit Highlight: Gold, White and Blue

Forever 21 sweater, Aritzia tunic, white jeans, J.Crew trench coat

Happy Monday, my friends!

Do you know what’s harder than coming back from a vacation? Coming back to bitter cold temperatures. Talk about a jolt back to reality! But again, the weather is playing nice and decided to warm up a bit over the weekend, and hence the outdoor photos of me seemingly enjoying the balmy weather.

I don’t know if the mounds of untouched white snow in my backyard was the source of inspiration but, for whatever reason, I was really in the mood for white jeans. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Hustlin’

Cinder + Salt, #LIKEABOSS, GapFit stripe-panel pants, joggers, Nike Free, activewear, sporty chic
As a mom of three girls, my hope is for my daughters to grow up to be kind, respectful and compassionate young women. At the same time, I wish for them to be confident, bold and fearless when it comes to pursuing their dreams. As we conclude our family vacation here in Disney World, I am reminded of what Walt Disney once said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” I want my daughters to grow up believing they can achieve anything they set their minds to. I want to instill in them the belief that hard work pays off and that determination opens doors. And that if they’re truly passionate about something, they need to go out there and make it happen.

And that’s why I’m so excited to be collaborating with Cinder + Salt to introduce you to their newest collection, which embodies this go-getter attitude. Their #LIKEABOSS collection was inspired by all the female go-getters out there who are empowered to pursue excellence while at the same time striving to find balance between career and personal goals. Recipe Highlight: Heart Shaped Chocolate Cookies

IMG_6670pm

I had come up with the idea of baking heart shaped chocolate cookies for my husband for Valentine’s Day several weeks ago but it wasn’t until now that I actually had a chance to make them. And since we’ll be on our family vacation during Valentine’s Day this Saturday, I decided to surprise him a little early. If you’re scrambling for a last minute surprise for your loved one, this is definitely something you might want to try. Let me just say two things about these rich chewy dark chocolate cookies, easy peasy and dang good. Need I say more? Continue reading
