It was a hot and humid weekend but I’m not complaining. I’ve been waiting for this kind of weather for too long. When it feels sticky outside, there is only one place I want to be…at the beach. When you can’t take the heat anymore, you can just take a refreshing plunge into the ocean water. I don’t know if it’s because I grew up in Rio enjoying the white sand beaches of Brazil, but the beach always feels like home to me, peaceful, relaxing and carefree. Continue reading
Weekly Wisdom: Are You Smarter than a Donkey?
The passage about Balaam and his donkey in Numbers 22:21-41 is one of the most interesting and comical passages I’ve read in the Bible. I don’t know about you but a talking donkey was not something I was expecting! Despite the amusing fable-like scenario, the message behind this passage is quite serious and real. We not only learn that God can use anyone or anything to bless His people or carry out His plan, but there are a couple of other truths that this passage revealed, about who I want to be and where I want to be, that convicted my heart. Outfit Highlight: Going Back and Going Bold
Happy Monday, my friends! Hope everyone had a good Mother’s Day weekend.
I have a confession to make. There’s been a rekindling of sorts in my life. I’ve fallen back in love with Banana Republic. BR used to be my favorite store back, oh I don’t know, about 10 years ago when I was working and just starting to have children. I could always find something at BR that I liked. Slowly, my enthusiasm started to fade as their selections became more and more basic. The combination of BR becoming a haven for basic workplace attire and me deciding to become a SAHM after my third child led me to part ways with BR. I have recently gone back to BR and surprisingly found myself picking up quite a few items from there. I think my last three featured outfits included BR items. I don’t know if it’s the Marissa Webb factor but I feel like the selections are more modern and updated and I’m seeing a little more flair and pizzazz in their pieces. And the prices are still reasonable, especially with all the promotions. What can I say? It’s a win win situation. Continue reading
6 Reasons to Start Kickboxing + BODYARMOR Giveaway!
Outside of my pregnancy years, when my workout schedule was sadly sporadic, I have been pretty consistent in staying active. I was a casual jogger in my college years, took Tae Kwon Do classes and mixed in aerobics whenever possible. Like everyone else, I eventually joined a gym and worked out as regularly as I could. My husband and I also used to play tennis as often as we could in the summer until we had our first child. I started running again about three years ago, this time more intentionally, keeping a pretty consistent running schedule. This is the problem though…I got bored. I know many people would disagree with me, but I personally find running a little boring. Not that I’ll be giving up running completely but I needed to mix things up. I had heard about kickboxing thru some friends and decided to give it a try towards the end of last summer. It’s been about 8 months now and I still love it! Let me tell you the reasons why kickboxing is my workout of the moment. Continue reading
Weekly Wisdom: 10 Truths
I had been studying the life of Moses with my local BSF group for the past nine months and our last meeting was this past Monday. I have never in my life enjoyed reading Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy as much as I did in these past several months. I have been overwhelmed with all the wisdom that I have gained from meditating on the passages in these books, discussing them with my small group, listening to the lecture and reading the notes. God did not hold back in pouring out His blessings thru His wisdom. And since God’s blessings are meant to be shared, I am sharing with you ten truths that have convicted my heart during these nine months of studying the life of Moses, and hopefully they will touch a chord in your heart as well. Outfit Highlight: Romper Dilemma + Exciting News!
Happy Monday, my friends!
I think the warm temperatures are finally here to stay. Yay! And for that reason, I finally got to wear my romper. So this was a tough decision, ladies. I couldn’t decide between two rompers for the longest time. When both Rachelle and Charnele mentioned this romper on their posts, I knew I had to pay Loft a visit to try it on. Tried it on. Loved it. Bought it. Then I found this Banana Republic romper and also fell in love. I must have tried each one of them more than a half a dozen times. Continue reading
Weekly Wisdom: His Grace is Enough
“Wake up, girls! It’s time to get up and get ready for church!” I yell out as I walk down the hallway towards the girls’ bedrooms. I hear a faint “okay” followed by moans. Seeing that the girls have started to move about, I go back to my room to start getting ready myself. A few minutes later, my middle one shuffles in and asks, “What should I wear?” I tell her to just pick out a long-sleeve top and a pair of leggings. She says (whines) that she wants to wear a skirt and needs my help. I follow her back to her room and run thru several outfits, going back and forth between her non-stop whining and me doing my best to maintain my cool. I finally just step away and tell her to figure something out. After prodding me for more suggestions, she finally settles on an outfit and goes downstairs. Continue reading
Outfit Highlight: The Stripe Dress + Shoe and Tell Link Up
Happy Monday, my friends!
For once, I can honestly say that I’m glad it’s Monday. I can finally get some peace and quiet. This past weekend was nothing short of exhausting. It started with my middle one throwing up all over the floor at gymnastics, which fortunately turned out to be a 24-hour bug, but unfortunately we did not escape it unscathed. My poor husband caught the bug. We celebrated two birthdays over the weekend, including my oldest daughter’s, which involved chaperoning a bunch of tweens at Dave and Buster’s. Need I say more?! I didn’t think I would have an outfit post today with my husband being sick but he was nice enough to offer to take pictures anyway.
So I’m keeping this one brief. I’m featuring three of my favorite things in today’s look: stripes, black and white and pops of color. Continue reading
