Recipe Highlight: Butter Chicken

Butter Chicken, Chicken Makhani, Indian cuisine, spicy food, samosas
Can you believe I had never tried Indian food until after college? I know, I totally missed out. My first experience with Indian food was when I was living in Washington, DC. My friend was visiting me from out of town and we decided to be adventurous. It was the best choice we could have made. We both thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and Indian cuisine was no longer a mystery. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Ready for Old Man Winter

IMG_5949rev1
Winter took us by surprise last year. It came unannounced in full force and more than overstayed its welcome. I sure wasn’t prepared for it and by end of February I felt like I was slowly losing my willpower to “brave” the winter. This year is going to be different. I’ve got my winter armor on and ready to meet it head on. Bring it on Old Man Winter! Show me what you got. Continue reading

Currently on My Radar

Piperlime, Madewell, Topshop, J.Crew, Nordstrom, ASOS

It’s been a while since I’ve shared what’s on my shopping radar. Apologies to those who are on any sort of no-shopping challenge. Just think of it this way, by the time you can start shopping again, these will all be on sale.

I just realized, as I look thru the list now, that most of the items I’ve selected are in hues of black and white. I guess I’m a creature of habit. What can I say, I love my black and white! Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: One Plaid Shirt, Six Outfits

Happy Monday my friends!

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a great birthday weekend filled with two of my favorite things, good food and quality time with the people I love. The best part was when my girls woke up at 7 a.m. to cook me breakfast, all on their own. They did an awesome job but really just the fact that they thought of doing such a thoughtful thing for my birthday made me happy.

I’m really excited about this post! Remember back in September, I was on the hunt for a plaid shirt and posted about it here. Well, after waiting forever I eventually got to purchase my top choice on sale, which was the Madewell ex-boyfriend shirt in cherry plaid. So I thought it would be fun to recreate the three looks that I shared in that same post in real life. On top of that, I took each look from fall to winter for a total of six different outfits. Just making sure I get the most mileage out of this plaid shirt! Continue reading

Madewell Picks & GIVEAWAY

Madewell Giveaway

Happy 2015!!!

Hope all of you had a great time ringing in the New Year whether you had a fancy party to go to or opted for a more relaxed time with your family at home. We kept our celebration pretty low-key this year. We karaoked the night away to Taylor Swift and Frozen tunes. We must have sang at least ten different Taylor Swift songs and, at the request of my 5-year-old, we belted out “Let It Go” for what felt like too many rounds. Surprisingly, all three of my girls stayed up to watch the ball drop and to toast to sparkling apple-grape juice.

And what better way to start off 2015 on My Rose Colored Shades than with an awesome giveaway! I am joining a group of fabulous bloggers to bring you a chance to win a $150 gift card to Madewell, one of my favorite stores! Continue reading

It is hard to believe that it’s time to say goodbye to 2014! I really felt that this year just flew by. For me personally, there were no major life changing events but I’m always grateful for all the blessings, big or small, that each year brings. Along with the blessings are also challenges that have helped me to learn and grow and become a better version of myself. And again, for that I am thankful. Continue reading

Double the Fun with Game Kicks

Happy Monday everyone!

My girls were super happy that Santa brought them most of the items on their wish list but they were also excited to get a special surprise in the mail from SKECHERS. I’m happy to continue my partnership with SKECHERS and introduce you to Game Kicks, their new line of sneakers for girls and boys with a special twist. Continue reading

Outfit Highlight: Black and Blue

cobalt blue sweater, black skater skirt, Circus by Sam Edelman Reese ankle boots, over the knee tights, OTK
Hope everyone had a good weekend! The best part about my weekend was the delicious food I got to enjoy. The worst part is that I probably gained about twenty pounds. J and I had a date night on Friday. We enjoyed a nice Italian dinner before heading over to the Detroit Opera House to see a showing of Wicked. Talk about an awesome show! It has all the elements of a great musical.

I also hosted an early Christmas dinner with my parents and my brother’s family last night and I made prime rib for the first time. It turned out better than I expected. It’s a good feeling when people enjoy the food you’ve cooked. Continue reading
